In accordance with the legal provision under the Occupational Safety and Health (Plant Requiring Certificate of Fitness) Regulations 2024, Regulation 12(2) states that an owner or occupier must ensure that any steam boiler is operated and supervised by a competent person who is a steam boiler operator as specified in the Twelfth Schedule.

Accordingly, all steam boiler operators are required to apply for the Steam Boiler Operator competency from the Department to be authorized to operate and supervise steam boilers at their workplace.

One of the requirements for registration as a Competent Person (Steam Boiler Operator) is attendance and successful completion of a Steam Boiler Operator course provided by a training provider recognized by the Department.

Therefore, to ensure the quality and standard of training provided, approval will only be granted to training provider who meet the criteria set by the Department.
