Construction Site Safety Supervisor
“Site Safety Supervisor” is a Competent Person appointed by the principal Contractor of a construction work to assist him in complying with the obligations imposed on him as stated in the Occupational Safety and Health (Construction Work) (Design and Management) Regulations 2024.

A person who wishes to register as a construction site safety supervisor must –
A. Malaysian citizens who have at least a diploma in engineering or architecture or a construction-related field, and have attended a construction site safety supervisor course at a training centre registered with DOSH, and have passed the construction site safety supervisor examination conducted by NIOSH or an institution recognised by DOSH; or
B. Malaysian citizens who have at least two years of experience as a construction site supervisor or construction site foreman, and have attended a construction site safety supervisor course at a training centre registered with DOSH, and have passed the construction site safety supervisor examination conducted by NIOSH or an institution recognised by DOSH; or
C. Malaysian citizens who have at least ten years of experience as a construction site supervisor or construction site foreman; and have passed the construction site safety supervisor examination conducted by NIOSH or an institution recognized by DOSH;
For your information, the Department has set several additional qualifications for SSS registration. The additional registration qualifications are-
D. Malaysian citizens who have passed the safety and health officer (SHO) examination at NIOSH but cannot yet register as an SHO due to less than three (3) years of experience, with additional conditions, namely –
- i. have at least twelve (12) months of experience in the construction field; or
- i. attend module 6 (construction safety) of the SSS course; or
- iii. attend the construction site supervisor course conducted by CIDB.
E. Malaysian citizens who have at least a diploma in occupational safety and health or its equivalent from any professional body or institution approved by the Department, with additional conditions, namely –
- i. have at least six (6) months of experience in the construction field; or
- i. attend module 6 (construction safety) of the SSS course.
However, this additional registration qualification is only temporary for a period of time to be determined, and it can be withdrawn in accordance with the provisions to be determined by the Director General.
