Occupational Health Doctor

New registration and re-registration of Occupational Health Doctors is one of the main activities under the management of the Occupational Health Division. It is in line with the requirements of the Regulations and Standards for Exposure to Chemicals Hazardous to Health 2000 (USECHH 2000) which stipulates the requirement for medical surveillance to be carried out by Occupational Health Doctors who are registered with the department and have a valid certificate. Under this regulation, medical surveillance must be carried out by Occupational Health Doctors to protect workers who are exposed or may be exposed to chemicals hazardous to health.

Apart from medical supervision, Occupational Health Doctors are also responsible for conducting health surveillance of workers working in confined spaces to ensure that the health of the workers involved is in optimal physical and mental condition. Health surveillance for workers working in confined spaces is contained in the Industry Code of Practice for Safe Working in Confined Spaces 2010.
