Chemical Management Division
Introduction
The Chemical Management Division (CMD) plays a crucial role in addressing the increasingly significant issues surrounding chemical management today. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of workers involved in chemical management at workplaces. This includes conducting chemical health risk assessments, setting exposure standards, classifying chemicals, communicating hazards, and adhering to international conventions related to the management, safety, and health concerning chemicals. Additionally, this division promotes chemical management to government agencies, industry stakeholders, and relevant bodies, with its activities extending beyond domestic operations. The department has been appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as one of the agencies in the National Authority of the Chemical Weapons Convention (PBK KSK) to fulfill the requirements of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and enforce the Chemical Weapons Convention Act 2005, which is regulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Overall, the Chemical Management Division is vital in advancing chemical safety and regulatory compliance in Malaysia, in line with global standards and conventions to protect worker’s health and the environment.
The Department has been appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as one of the agencies in the Chemical Weapons Convention National Authority (CWCNA) to fulfill the requirements of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) as well as implement the Chemical Weapons Convention Act 2005 which is regulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Overall, the Chemical Management Division is instrumental in advancing chemical safety and regulatory compliance in Malaysia, in line with global standards and conventions to protect worker health and the environment.
