Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Introduction
Approval of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is one of the requirements and requirements in the Factories and Machinery Act 1967, the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and the Regulations thereunder. These regulations can be referred to at KPD legislation.
The regulations have stipulated 7 types of KPD which require the approval of the Chief Inspector of Factories and Machinery and the Director General of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health which include:
- head protector
- foot protector
- hearing protector
- eye protection (chemical hazards)
- hands (chemical hazard)
- body protection (safety harness, lifeline and all tools for lifeline installation)
- body protector (chemical hazards)
- respiratory protection (chemical hazards)
This compliance requirement applies to all KPD products used in the workplace, including imported and locally manufactured KPD products. To obtain approval, all KPD must have a full type test report and product certification license from the Independent Inspection / Certification Body appointed by DOSH, namely SIRIM Qas International Sdn Bhd.
