Pressure Vessel
Introduction to Pressure Vessels
Under the Factories and Machinery Act, 1967, every pressure vessel to be used must have a valid Certificate of Qualification (CF) before being allowed to operate. For this purpose, the pressure vessel must first obtain design approval from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOH), Headquarters before it is built, installed, or used.
Applications for design approval can be made by the manufacturer, installer, supplier or owner of the pressure vessel in question. For local pressure vessel manufacturers, the company must be registered as a manufacturer with the Department.
Here are some examples of pressure vessels that require design approval:
- Air container
- Pest Control
- LPG storage tank
- Heat exchanger
- Pressure vessels in petrochemical plants, etc.
